Real estate market at a glance

Strong sales in January kicked off Wisconsin’s housing market in 2021, following the previous year’s record activity. According to this recent report from the Wisconsin Realtors Association, there were 4,659 sales of existing homes, showing a 9.8% increase compared to January 2020.

Interest rates have also started to gradually increase from 2020’s record lows, although housing experts say it isn’t likely to have a significant effect on the market. The strong demand and decreasing supply of available homes resulted in higher prices in January, with Wisconsin’s median home price increasing by 10.5% to $210,000.
